Crabbing@Mandurah

December 29, 2005

Yay! I’ve got internet again, but it’s of course a torturous 56k, how I wish I was back on cable.
Ok lets retract. On Boxing Day, me and my parents set off to do some errands, the plan was, if we could find crabbing scoops, we’ll go crabbing in the evening. Well, we did.

We headed to Fremantle to pick up the other car of clipper crew, Mervyn was kind enough to join us and lead the way to Mandurah. It was a horrid evening to go crabbing, the wind was blowing, water choppy, and not to mention the weird weather Perth has been receiving, it sure felt like an autumn night.

We headed into the estuary, caught about 20 crabs, and a lot were undersized. The minute we got out, the fisheries authority came out of their hiding place behind the bushes to fine us. 200 bucks!?! Man, even writing about this makes me angry!? Well they confiscated our whole loot, and we were left with ZERO crabs! I was close to tears, I’ve been driving for 1 1/2 hours to get to Freo and Mandurah, then out in the freezing water for 1 1/2 hours to catch pathetic crabs, and now you’re telling me I have no crabs and another 1hour drive back! Then again, we should have been more diligent about measuring those little rascals.

CRAP!

And what got me irritated were the stupid questions the fisheries officer was asking me. I know it’s their job to confirm identity by comparing my answers with my driver’s license. But there I was freezing from the water and wind, and he asked for my name at least 3 times within 20mins! I mean, come on! How different do I look from my driver’s license photo!

I watched Narnia last night with Mervyn at Garden City! If you were a kid watching this movie, you’d probably think it’s such a cool action, fantasy movie. But I guess the “older kids” like me would see the many Christian connotations in the movie, interesting watch, well worth it. After the movie, we went to Oriels to meet Phillips! My philipo is attached! Told you it was the haircut HAhahaha.

I had a great time last night catching up Phillips and Mervyn, and honestly I can’t wait to see them again this NYE.

From Mervyn’s Rm

December 25, 2005

It’s time I explain what I’ve been doing since June, when my blog died. My last semester was the wildest semester I’ve ever had in Perth. And I’d like to take a moment to say hi to my perthlings, Mervynn, Jonus, Chriso, Phillipo, Emma, Mei, & Elz. I’ve never partied so much in my life before! Every Saturday, you’ll find us on the right bar in Metros drinking, laughing & dancing. *sigh* I do miss that.

I left Perth on the 5th of July 2005, my dad had flown down to help me tie up loose ends and close up this chapter of my life. I was sad to leave this lifestyle, my friends, my apartment, my car, but at the same time, I was so eager to fly home to Singapore, and start afresh!

Anyway, I’ve been bumming around for the past few months, partly finding excuses not to find work, and partly indecisive of my career choice. Well as we near the end of 2005, it’s time I settle down, and yes, find a job. I may not like my first job, or second, but I have to start somewhere don’t i?

Me and Wayne made New Year resolutions to other day, and let’s just say I can’t wait for a new chapter of our lives to begin. I’m loving the fact that I get to see him as often as I want!

anyways, using mervyn’s comp, so i better log off now! Till the next post, merry xmas!

8 month hiatus

December 21, 2005

Zzz...Hello Friends and Family…. I’m back! Instead of 8 months worth of lines and pictures, i think i’ll just post in chunks.

First of all…what happened? Well somehow, someone inserted a nasty script into my website, which caused my webhost ipowerweb to suspend my account for the longest time. I’m unfortunately still with ipowerweb, but i am looking around for a new home! It took countless number of emails and calls to the united states to sort out the problem. My emails were bounced, my website down, it was just a nightmare!

When i spoke to a technical assistant, he suggested i completely wipe out my site and start afresh. Fine, i’m using dreamweaver so i do have a local copy of my site. BUT…how about my blog :( Well i ain’t that big of a geek ok, so i asked him what i shld do. He did a SQL dump for me, and PROMISED me that all my posts will be there.

Now….for those bigger geeks out there, help me understand this…. the SQL dump is only 139kb…hmm isn’t that a bit small to be carying all my old posts?

Anyways, i’m back online, on wordpress, and still trying to familiarise myself with functions and plugins. I’ll soon put up a subcribe plug-in too, which means you can receive email updates on my blog ….

sigh, my love hate relationship with technology.

Watch this space for more updates! YAY! tehehehe

p.s. still alot of tweaking but i just HAD to put the blog up already!
