RAOUL Fashion Show

March 10, 2006

So, i did this Fashion Show last week for the fashion labelRAOUL. Not as a model (obviously) but as a talent. They made me wear this bustier made out of ties and a long skirt, oh did i mention i had a sofa on my head?

It was suppose to be “artistic”, i just thought it was warped! I agreed to do it because Danli was working on that project, but that girl failed to inform me how ridiculous i was about to look. So i was grumpy for the 2 days.I was first instructed to wear the swan head piece, which was huge and uncomfortable, so i was glad they changed it to a sofa. Unlike what was written here by another talent, i wasn’t “bitchy” coz i didn’t get to wear the swan head!?! For those who know me, that’s so far fetch from my personality. Isn’t such a shitty feeling when someone totally misunderstands you, and PLUS blog about it to the whole world! Geez i’m not that shallow! Well i won’t make a big fuss about it, she probably presumed alot without even verifying.

Did i mention i was the biggest one there? All the models were stick skinny and gorgeous, i felt like a hippo! Loved the outfits, especially the work wear collection.

  1. Ah, misunderstandings…. Ignore it. Only you and your friends know the true you :)

I enjoy my own amusement when people misunderstand me. Haha… There are plenty of angles that others see us from.

Anyway, I love the sofa! :p

  2. Hey there, i just surfed in from a friend’s blog… the truth of the matter is that people can be so presumptious at times! I guess she needed something to spice up her entry for the day and you took the fall. Oh well, what can you do? Cheer up :)

  7. Haha.. I saw the cabbage girl from the other talent’s website. She’s so young only. Babe, I think you look fab, not ridiculous at all, you don’t look big either. I LOVE RAOUL!! Esp their work outfits, fit purrfectly but a tad expensive. As for the other talent, she just assume too much!!

  11. Are you smirking on the runway hehe? The only advantage of being sticks is just being aerodynamic. You look just fine! ;)

  20. That was a sofa?? Nah, it was just a funky hat which you pulled off very well ;)
You look fantabulous and you are NOT a hippo.
Nevermind those that misunderstand you or don’t know you at all, because we all know who the real Angie is :)

    Comment by Andrea — March 11, 2006 @ 10:40 pm

  21. You look great, even with the sofa on your head. And you’re not big! You’re just tall. People get presumptous sometimes (she even wrote that she wasn’t sure why you were upset), so oh well, ignore her. But yes, I agree that it is really sucky to read such untrue stuff on someone else’s blog.

Back when I was working with TNP, I shot a picture of this Bae Yong Jun fan, who was one of the most difficult people around. She refused to tuck her hair behind her ears (because she says she’s got big ears), she forgot to bring this teddy she was supposed to have taken a picture with, she had to hold a namecard which had to be held in a funny manner because she has horribly bitten fingernails, and she didn’t want to pose in this way or the other. I stumbled onto her blog recently and she was bitching big time on how fugly she looks in that picture. I was soooooooo annoyed and would have loved to have left a comment on her blog. But oh well. It would probably sound like I was trying to cover my ass more than anything.

  22. Hahaha. Sofa head. HAHAHA.

I blogged last year about how crappy i felt when i did the Juice photoshoot for Levis. The juice guys were all so nice about it even though i reminded them that I was bottom heavy and they still wanted me to do it BUT the ladies from LEVI’s weren’t too pleased when they saw me. I was the fattest one there and the only indian. They scrapped the shot of me and koflow because I looked like a blimp, they took me out of the group shots and I ended up only doing one with Mark SBTG and even that shot they said my eyes were too big, my skin was too dark for the red filters.

I burst out crying at the end of it when my boyfriend came to pick me up. I had NEVER felt so fat. TO think that in the morning of that day i was in one of my non-bloaty feelthinner days. LOL

They gave me the shittiest things to wear (like a 3/4 length skirt that doesnt look nice because we all know how indians have big thighs and small ankles like a chicken drumstick), the day of the fitting they brought me a waist 25 pair of jeans that I had to jump up and down to fit my arse into…

and of course comments started floating around..

sometimes people just suck.. they treat things as competition and put people down to make themselves feel better… not everyone has the metabolism of a ferret ;) Girls can be especially critical because they always have their eye out for “Why her and not me, i look so much better” so the bitchy comments will float…

Head high at the end of the day… so what? ;) if people can take that time out to bitch about you than that’s great cos you’re a superstar. (so said a very wise cow to me) hahahaha.

  23. hey angie! I love your blog and how you put things together! and dont give 2 damns about the other talent.. Cause with or without that stunted swan, and no matter how special she felt with the DUCK, she didnt look any better than you did! Envious body you got! hahaha!

I’ve been visiting by the way… and will drop by again someday soon! Take care!

    Comment by avril — March 12, 2006 @ 11:07 pm

  24. jo: agreed ;)

cas: phew, a bit steep for just a cotton shirt huh! i just saw the prices today, a simple dress costs 260 bucks!

janice: nvm, next time i decide to embaress myself… i’ll invite you ok!! hahahaha

Joan: yeah, that part really got me cheesed… but i guess i’ve just got to learn how to ‘ren’ right. I need to be stronger in that sense anyway…..good training hehehe

aresha: Such a lovely comment you left….. you are absolutely right, i totally get what you mean, and the bottom line is, this industry is damn bitchy. i always feel so low and demoralised after fittings or shoots, instead of doing something about it, i get upset, and when i get upset, i eat, so it’s quite a bad cycle. head high! i’ll always keep that in mind….. appreciate that.

Avril: Helllloooo there!! so nice of you to drop a msg! of course, wld always love to hear from you! well avril, you’ve got a great height too! and that’s rare for chinese girls.. then again your mum and dad are just so darn tall! it’s only natural for you to be tall too!! hehehehe say hi to your monkey for me ahahahhHAHh

  25. :) The best thing is not to bother, let people say what they want and come to their own conclusion. At the end of the day you owe no one an explanation because the ones who matter know the real you, innit?
