SACA MTB Race - Tampines Trail

December 31, 2006

Back dated… AS USUAL!

Was held many weekends ago at the Tampines trail. I couldn’t take part because i had a press conference to attend to, initially, but i managed to skip that to give my boy moral support, his first MTB Race!! For someone who has never taken part in a race before, he did pretty well, coming in the top half of racers for the weekend warrior category.

It was such a weird feeling, i had this rush of pride when i saw him crossing the finishing line! i just smothered that smelly sweaty boy with kisses and 100plus.

For most of the morning, i was in charge of the flash cards and bell ringing, sounds easy right? Wait till you get 3 categories with 3 different lap rounds cycling together in the trail! So damn hard to keep track of riders and the number of rounds they’ve done.

Can’t wait to get back on my bike again! With Janice flying off soon, i won’t have race kaki anymore…boo hoo hoo…

24 years old

December 19, 2006

It’s only of late i’ve been starting to realise how fast time flies.

On my birthday, on the 8th of November, i was spoilt rotten…Wayne bought me a Wacom Tablet, and my parents+sister & Kevin bought me Altec Lansing computer speakers. My Mac has been officially PIMPED! I also received gifts from Wayne’s Mum+Dad+Nan, Penns. and from my colleagues whom i’ve only known for 5 months!! Truly touched.

Chic Flick of the Month

December 19, 2006

Saturday night, we watched “The Holiday” at the new Vivocity Cinemas. Now i must admit, i’m a complete sucker for chic flicks. Sometimes you just don’t want to think too much, just throw me the love, tragedy, drama and a happy ending. And this…is exactly one of them.

But, having said that, guys, if you’re reading this. Baaadd idea to bring your lady to watch that movie, because you’re just going to get yourself into trouble. Her expectations of you are going to fly through the roof, and for the next few days, she’s going to expect you to write her a song or romance her all over again. Don’t say i didn’t warn you.

My thoughts: Cameron Diaz can’t act, Jude Law’s character is terribly charming, true love shows up when you least expected and i want to see snow again.

Deep down, there’s a little voice telling me to move to England for a couple of years, just to have a taste of living in a foreign country (ok that sounds weird, considering the fact that england is meant to be home for me). But i want to be able to wear a coat outside, i want to exhale a misty breath, i want to light a fire in the fireplace when its cold, i want to be sipping a hot cup of tea as it snows outside.

hmmm…. we’re all allowed to dream sometimes right?

My Lovely Ladies

December 15, 2006

Emma and Paul are back from Perth for the hols. We tried so hard to meet up at Zoukout, but somehow we just kept missing each others phonecalls and sms!

Anyway, last night we went to Oosh at Dempsey for Dinner and Drinks to catch up. We kept recalling the fun times we had in Perth together, and promise to create new memories here in Singapore. Emma is looking radiant as usual, and its just lovely to see her again. So i leave you with a few pictures, while i go participate in the festive activities downstairs at the Ogilvy Christmas Bazaar!

Dissapointed

December 8, 2006

I’m so so so dissapointed. All our hard work, and Genting wins. I wonder what Singapore has received in return… cheaper water? Southern islands? I would have been ok if Kerzner won. Oh wells, life goes on. It was a great roller coaster ride, but for Sentosa, the ride stops here.

To the Eighth Wonder team, it was a fantastic experience.

Pre Race Day

December 6, 2006

So i couldn’t take part in last last Sunday’s SACA mountain bike race, so the least i could do was try out the loop at Tampines the day before.

The course was WET Wet WET! The past week’s rain had caused the trail to detoriate to slush and mud, so you can guess, it wasn’t very pretty. While The SACA gang were prepping the course in the blazing hot sun (it helped dry the trail a bit), i took the opportunity to give it a go.

It looks easy to tackle, but you’ll be surprised how tough and demanding the course is. Because of the few inches deep of mud, it made it extremely difficult to climb, even on your granny. There were moments where my back tyre was spinning in the mud, and i wasn’t moving anywhere!

After exploring the trail, we helped out a bit to set up for race day. By 2pm, the clouds rolled in and poured buckets…. all that sunshine for nothing, trail was back to its mucky state.

Here’s Ming entertaining us with his chequered flag, finishing line dance.
