Date post mortem
June 11, 2007
Dinner was at a Japenese BBQ restaurant in Chijmes called Gyu Kaku.

We weren’t sure what to order, so we left it to one of the waitstaff to surprise us.

He brought out aparagus, mushrooms, garlic prawns (its the 4th year, we don’t care if we get bad breath on a date at 4 years), Wagyu beef, pork strips, chicken teriyaki, Japanese salad and rice.

You can’t have BBQ food without some BEeeer! 2 Mugs of Asahi please!

So how does it work? They bring out your food raw and seasoned, and all you have to do is chuck it on to the grill in front of you for a couple of minutes. It’s great because i can burn the steak the way i like it! If you want to try this place out, i highly recommend the wagyu beef…SO tender, juicy, and fatty.

We were so full we decided to walk round the premises, hand in hand, just chatting and joking. And that by itself, is a perfect date. 4 years on…and i still love my big grumpallofagus…very very much!
awww so romantic!!!

pei: OOo there’s one in NY? had no idea…i wonder what gyu kaku means? or maybe it’s just a name?
germaine: It’s quite fun, cooking your own food. But be prepared to splurge if you’re going for the wagyu…. that’s the killer dish… and mUST have beer! it goes hand in hand….

gyu means beef, and based on the chinese character, kaku probably means horn in japanese.
I missed japanese bbq! *drool*
Comment by Chloe — June 12, 2007 @ 4:22 pm

chloe:yeah i heard korean is a bit like hakka
indra: OOoooo must take note if i ever go to sydney
Comment by Angela — June 15, 2007 @ 4:04 pm
Really? I’m hakka, can’t speak my dialect but understand some when my dad speaks it.
My sil is korean though. When she calls my bro which i supposed is dear, it sounds like chicken mother in hokkien. It tickles me everytime they call each other.
