Third and Fourth Muay Thai class
March 7, 2008
Tuesday and Thursday was my third and fouth Muay Thai lesson, and it’s getting tougher every session. We’re slowly getting the hang of skipping, but Wayne still looks like a school girl doing it. At least he’s got the push ups nailed, I can’t even do it right!
This is the Basic set up:
- Hand wraps
- Ankle guard
- Gloves
- Shin pads
- Shorts
- Adidas tank to match
On Tuesday we were taught two more offensives: Elbow Chop, Straight knee strike, and a few defensive moves: the shin block and redirection on jabs.
Was a bit stunned when my instructor Amy went for a jab, and I failed to block it. It wasn’t hard AT ALL, more like a tap, but I was still quite stunned. I’ve just never been hit before, so it’s all a bit weird for me.
Last night we were fine tuning our moves, and I think I pulled my left ab muscle, just above my hip bone while doing a knee block. Tried wiki-ing it, but I can’t confirm which muscle is that. Anyone care to enlighten me?
At the end of the day, girls, I think Muay thai is great if you want to get fit, lose weight, and learn some self defence moves.

This looks like an awesome challenge. If only if I could get the boyfriend and I to do it with me…Hmmm I shall ask him!

irene: i didn’t really have a choice on the shorts… it was that or a batman one. I think wayne has a flame one (looks like boxers if you ask me)
Amelia: I’m sure he will! You know boys… they like these sort of manly sports. Ask them to do something else, they’d think its wussy.

Okays I asked my boyfriend and he sulked at the idea. He much preferred badminton. Haha! Nevermind, I shall go alone or with my gung-ho girlfriends. Maybe I shall ask Brenda…

Rachel, marie: the shorts are muay thai shorts, they can cost anywhere from 25-50 bucks. And my top, from adidas, can’t remember how much.
Yvonne: emailed you this morning
