Unconditional love

March 3rd, 2009

I knew what was going to happen, and I tried my best to be emotionally prepare for this movie. In hindsight, I wish I brought some tissue instead of using my cardigan as a snort cloth. I blogged about the book “Marley & Me” about two years back, so you can imagine how excited i was when they announced the production of the movie.

If you love dogs, or had a dog that has past, this movie will definitely tug on your heart strings. Till today, I still miss Flicka very much.

Still on the movie, I heard a beautiful BEAUTIFUL rendition of a Kurt Cobain song “Lithium” redone by this guy called Bruce Lash. Had to get it. I’ve uploaded it onto my playlist on the right for you to listen to.

You heard it here first.

    Don’t you ever have this fear of watching books you love turn into movies?
    I know I do, almost always leave the cinema feeling somewhat dis-satisfied (is there such a word?)

    I read and loved Marley & Me but worry that the movie will leave me short changed….

    Will hence resolutely refuse to watch it. Until I do =P

    Strange but some say than only GOD and DOG can give you unconditional love.

    i read marley & me 3 times, and every single time, i cried like a baby. I caught it in the cinemas, and whaddayaknow… i cried like a baby. i’m sure flicka is somewhere in doggie heaven, thankful that he was and is loved by you and your family. :)

    @ean
    I worry about that sometimes too, but if you don’t watch it, you’ll never know. For me, when i read a book, i visualise everything in my head, and with the movie, i’d like to make a comparison and see if it’s similar.

    @Bernice
    I heard alot of sniffles in the cinema last night.

    At this point of time, i still refuse to watch it because i do not want to cry like a baby infront of my gf inside a cinema.

    cry baby leh.. so you didn’t join bikeasia this time?..

  11. March 3rd, 2009 at 23:29 | #11

    Yeah, i caught it over the weekend & ended up crying too.. I know that feeling of how no matter how naughty my bunnies can get, i’d never give up hope on them.

    On another note, i think the book’s better than the movie adaptation (which’s usually the case anyway), though i do love the movie! Try watching ‘Helen the Baby Fox’ too, it’ll break your heart into smithereens =x

    Flicka’s happy & safe in doggy heaven now, don’t be sad *hug*

    @Yoyong
    i did :) was in a quad team. Shame about the rain.

    @Cass
    THanks for the recommendation. I seriously think there’s nothing wrong with crying watching a movie. Just means you have a greater capacity to feel an emote. It’s horrible containing all those emotions…i’d rather let it out.

    @Kuen
    :( omg, that’s terrible :(

    @Jo-Ann
    i think you better be prepared… its a hard movie to watch. i think especially for you,.

    I’m going to make a pass. I watched Eight below and literally sobbed on the plane and sad ending is not going to digest well for my soul since my dog passed away when I was still in Perth, sigh. Anyhow, on a separate note babe, may ia sk whihc camera are you using babe? I’m trying to decide between Canon powershot and Canon Ixus.. just don’t really know the difference and which is better~

    IMO the film was really insincere. Read the book. Skip the film.

    @Derrick… Dude… its really none of our business
