Best Friends and Good Friends

February 3rd, 2010

I don’t like using the words “Best Friend” lightly when it comes to describing my friendships.

To date, I’ve only called 3 people my Best friend: My mum, sister and Wayne.

Wayne was and is still my best friend. Though we have broken up, there will always be a special place in my heart for him. I could talk to him days on end about anything and everything under the sun.

Then there are good friends. These are the people in my A-Team, like the Danlis, Nattles, Kimmys (Ma Girlfriends) and Jons (whom I call my best mate just coz he’s aussie).

Speaking of Jon, the last trip down to Perth was extra fabulous because I got to spend a good chunk of quality time with him.

In the past 7 years, we’ve both been through lots of life’s trials and tribulations together, and he has definitely proved his loyalty as a friend. Mate, if you were a girl, you’d definitely be one of my bridesmaids!

He is coming up sometime in April and I just can’t wait to party on up with him.

Do you have a Best friend hierarchy as well?

Yes I do and like you, I use the word ‘best friend’ cautiously.

I have 3 best friends – AM, B and B.T. B.T is the only guy that I have dated that I have called my best friend because he is the only one that I can share and talk to freely and comfortably. My sis and Mom are called Family :)

Next is ‘close good friends’. D is my favorite close good friend – very close to calling as best friend since B passed away 5+ years ago but I still haven’t been able to give him the term ‘best friend’. TS, EL are my close good gfs.

Next are the good friends which are a larger number – those that I contact with regularly. Followed by general friends than acquaintances.

Jono is a dinky-di Aussie?? stylo!! dunno what gave me the idea he is singaporean with permanent residency in Oz. big up to that!! a fellow aussie with singapore ties in Perth. sweet as. no wonder he knew so much about footy. basket. haHahaha!!

ya know you sound like me best mate. she didnt like using the term on me either. she’d say her husband was her best friend. but after 15 years of friendship, and a strained marriage, she’s unconsciously let the word slip many times. it comes naturally now. she says out loud…. “i’m…. her… best friend”. aaaaawww shucks. *blush* i think its wikkid Wayne is still your best mate. honorable title like that should never ever change just because you’re no longer romantically involved.

I have to admit, I have a couple of best mates – They pretty much get called that when I pretty much know that I would move mountains for them and know they’d do the same.
