i want…

March 5, 2008

Am thinking of selling my imac, because I’m so mobile nowadays, it doesn’t make sense for me to keep the imac. It was just a year ago I bought this baby. My first big purchase with my own hard earned pay.

I think i can count the number of times I used that computer! Such a shame, I wished I used it more, but I was just never home enough.

I have one interested buyer, just got to get the specs together. I emailed the ishop, but in the meantime, does anyone know how where to find it in the mac?

Guitar Hero

January 7, 2008

My name is Angela, and I am addicted to Guitar Hero.

Since we were all in ROCKER mode, we decided to take some rocker shots. Ok this is embarrassing, but only after 5mins did Wayne tell us we’re doing the wrong hand sign! Instead of the horns/devil hand sign, we were doing the “I love you” sign. Lose…

Ok! How embarrassing! At least we got this one right!

It’s so addictive Wayne comes over every other day, just so we can unlock more songs. We have currently finished medium level on Guitar Hero 1 and 2.

And as much as Wayne hates to admit it, I’m better than him at Guitar Hero too.

Nike plus

April 3, 2007

I had the opportunity to be the first bunch of people in Singapore to try out the new Nike+ kit last week. My first thoughts were, “I’m not going to sell out to Nike just because of this”, because at the end of the day, I’d rather give you a honest review than some “paid advertisement”.

I went into the trial session full of negativity and skeptism, and trust me I was armed with a pocketful of questions to drill them with. I even had Wayne with me for back up. We were walked through the features and functions, and put on the treadmill straight away.

“Dammit, it’s actually pretty good!”

Verdict: Apple and Nike really thought of everything.

What I Liked:

  • The instant feedback of your time, distance, pace and calories burned.
  • The Powersong feature (when you hold down the middle button, your preset powersong comes on)
  • The ability to sync it with the nikeplus website and set goals for yourself
  • Challenge your friends i.e. first one to run a total 100km buys lunch (its mapped out online)
  • They have several trial locations available around the island, I saw a treadmill at the wheelock store over the weekend. Best to check the Nikeplus website for the locations!

Seriously, it’s a simple gadget. Clean features and web interface. No complex nonsense.

Tadaahh! My first run in months! Wayne and i ran around bedok reserviour, just once. Don’t laugh at my timing ok!

This is another cool feature, you can see who have logged in their run, from around the world. This screenshot was from the U.S. map, in a matter of 5 seconds, 3 people had logged in their run data. They just keep popping up!!

Did i mention you can map out your runs too? I mapped out the canal run i used to do, can’t wait to try it on that stretch.

    Damage (not bad at all)
    Apple Ipod Nano: S$348
Nike Air Zoom Moire (Grey): S$169
Nike+ Ipod Sensor Kit: S$52 retail
    Nike Sport Arm Band: S$54

    Love seat toilet???

    February 3, 2007

I’m sorry, but this has to be one of the weirdest things you could buy.

I’ll pass, i ain’t staying in the same room as Wayne when he poos! So i sure in hell wouldn’t want to sit side-by-side and see his expressions while he takes a dump!

    Love Seat Toilet
With Valentine’s around the corner, couples would understandably like to spend more personal time together. Though there surely ought to be a line drawn on just how intimate you really want to get with your partner. This hasn’t stopped designer Amigo Zhou from going potty with a Love Seat Toilet–attached he/she loos designed for two to use at the same time. If anything can flush true love down the sewers in a jiffy, a case of baked beans, fried food and onions gone bad should. Butt buddies for life? We think not. Mr Zhou.

    Feeling

    TURNER 5 SPOT (Frame Review)

    January 23, 2007

The demo bike in question that I have been graciously lent to try is a Turner 5 Spot (Thanks Gilbert!). This was an older version of the newer - and yet to arrive - 5.5 Spot, but I was told that it would be a good platform to gauge how much travel I really needed and what the TNT rear linkage would feel like. This is my review which will focus more on the frame.

    The Equipment
The 5 Spot frame comes in at about 6.2lbs and delivers about 5” of rear travel as the name states. At the rear end we have a DHX 5.0 Air to soak up all that’s left behind without penalizing on the weight. Finishing was acceptable though it could have been better with welding at the joints pretty neat. Upfront is the Fox’s 07 Float R which gives us a generous 140mm of travel. The drive train was the very bling Crank Brothers Colbalt SL Crank Set with XTR shifter, front and rear derailleur. Stopping is a mix of XTR and XT disc brakes with XTR hubs wrapped in WTB Mutano 26 / 1.95 tires complete the whole bike. Not too bad a setup and weight came in at about 27.0lbs

    The Ride
The ride overall was pretty good. With more travel upfront and in the rear, one would think that climbing with this would have been a killer. Quite the contrary, as I did not suffer (much) on most of the climbs – even though I was on flats – as the DHX Air rear shock sucked up all that was thrown at it and it really provided really good traction with minimal bob. Despite rear travel being pretty close to my current bike, the 5” of travel on the 5 Spot felt like a whole lot more on the trails and it did give me the confidence to just run over anything without worrying about bottoming out on drops. The bike also had a longer wheel base and the stability that came with it gave you a lot more confidence to go faster downhills. However, this made the bike seem a bit sluggish on slightly tighter handling.

    Evaluation
The ride of the bike was really good and though I would have loved to fiddle with the setup to get the settings more matched to me. Climbing was not as bad as I had envisioned and the rear shock made sure that there was adequate traction throughout the climb. With a wider wheel base and more travel, the downhills were truly something else. I was able to bomb down a lot faster and take a slightly more aggressive line. A special mention has to go to the DHX Air which I enjoyed thoroughly. It took in everything that the trail could throw at it and on the slightly more aggressive stuff - like jumps over rutty sections and drops - the shock did exceptionally well. I tuned it with a little bit of propedal and there was little or close to no bob under heavy pedaling and yet it was plush over the nasty bits. Overall a little bit more travel on the rear would have been perfect and the 5.5 Spot could provide me with this. In fact if it comes with the DHX Air, I’ll place an order for one immediately!

    Wayne’s new gadget

    April 24, 2006

Ok i’m going to sound like i’m promoting this item, but its really darn cool!
    The Garmin Edge 350

Let’s do some copying and pasting here…

The Edge 305 has the ability to measure pedaling cadence, heart rate, speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, plus much more. 305 features include:

  • Easy-to-install?no calibration required. Just snap it in the included bike mount and go
  • High-sensitivity GPS receiver?knows your position even in tree cover and canyons, making it extremely reliable for navigation
  • Customizable cycle computer?shows up to eight different data fields for continuous feedback
  • Virtual Partner??lets you “race” a virtual competitor, making training fun
  • Courses?lets you “race” against a recorded course to try to match previously set speeds at every point along the way
  • Auto Pause??pauses the training timer when you slow down below a specified speed and resumes when you speed up again so you can focus on your ride
  • Auto Lap ??automatically triggers a lap every time you pass a specified location or travel a preset distance
  • Training Center software?gives you the ability to create workouts, manage and download courses, and create a detailed post-ride analysis that charts your performance
  • Its wayne’s early birthday present from his family, and he ABSOLUTELY loves it. I found it so cute how he strapped himself with the heart rate monitor, and started running on the spot, just to see if it was working.
