Where has all the time gone? I can’t seem to keep up with everything happening around me! Did I not post any F1 Grand Prix pictures?

Here’s a quick collage of the last grand prix. We got 4 pit grandstand tickets again this year, so I spent the qualifying with Mummy and Danli, and for the Finals, took Danli, Hann Sern & Prashant.

Did you know with your grand stand ticket, you get to go on the Singapore Flyer for free? It was my first time on the wheel, and I must admit, it gave a great birds-eye view of the whole circuit and of the rest of Singapore. I probably wouldn’t have gone on it if it wasn’t free though.

I did get to take a photo with Sir Richard Branson at the Avalon party.

Race was pretty exciting, same same but different. And as usual, after the race everyone goes down to the track to take photos. Did get to see Daddy for a brief moment just through the pit gates for a “hi” “bye” and “good race management daddy”. Don’t know how many more years he’s going to do this.

Anyway, just thought I’d leave some photos here for memory sake.

So daddy is back on F1 duties this year as Chief Secretariat. This time, the whole family was given free tickets to the Grandprix. Initially, we were told they were walkabout tickets. Then it got changed to Grandstand Marina Bay seats. WOOT! Can I just say, I’m just so darn proud of my daddy, at 64 he is still keeping active and pursuing his interests and passions.

With 4 tickets for all three days, we were thinking of splitting it up so we can bring friends and visiting relatives as well. Finals would be a family affair.

I had 2 tickets for myself for qualifying night, and none of my friends can make it! That’s too bad…… because…. they got changed again to Pit Grandstand!

We attended the Redbull F1 party held at Cafe Del Mar about 2 weeks back? It’s probably the busiest I’ve ever seen the place, all thanks to the great party that Daryl and his crew put together. This was the start of many late nights that followed.

With the beautiful Melody & Randall. I had a great time catching with Melody, we chatted about everything from work to running techniques!

We were there at 8:30pm till 1:30am, enjoying the music, lion dances, fire twirlers, F1 royalty, Redbull mixed drinks and great company of friends.

Urgh i had so much redbull that night, I didn’t want to touch another can for the next week or so (Unless its Jägerbombs)

5 days of partying and late nights has finally caught up with me.

Sat – Mountain Biking (9am) + F1 Qualifying @ the Boathouse + The White Rabbit w/ Drubbles (1:30am)

Sun – Mountain Biking (8am) + Singapore F1 Singtel Grand Prix Finals @ Padang Grandstand w/ Wayne + Club21 after party @ Old Parliament House (1:30am)

Last Saturday, before the chaos began, my dad gave me and my mum a private tour around the F1 HQ at Marina Bay.

The pits are right next to the Singapore Flyer.

We got to take a look at the control room where you can see every camera on the circuit.

My dad is a volunteer at this year’s race. He is a senior race appointment holder holding a deputy posts as Race secretariat. Don’t ask me what his job entails, something to do with the race marshals and issuing things to the race drivers.

The only thing that bugs me about this whole thing is the perks of being a volunteer, or shall i say LACK of perks. My dad wasn’t given any free tickets to the race! As one of the two senior volunteer positions, you would think they’d give you a pair? Nope. None.

He has burnt so many weekends for the work he has done, I just think they shouldn’t be so stingy. Geez, not even walk-about tickets! Well at least I got to see what he’s doing this weekend.

I’m suddenly getting all excited about this weekend!

This year, its the first time a handbook was created for marshals. The 136-page Marshals Handbook, details safety tips, flag signals and other guidelines for race marshals. Here’s the Straits Times article, didn’t bother with the zaobao, today and business times one.

I’m so proud of him.

I’m asking for trouble posting this on my blog, but seriously, I needed to bring this up for debate.

Are these girls a representation of Singapore’s brains and beauty? I just find it quite embarrassing. I understand we don’t have large pool to choose from, but I just don’t believe there aren’t better girls out there?The calibre of girls in the line up is far below my expectations of what an F1 grid girl should be! Look at the other Grand Prix around the world (ok maybe not malaysia).

Forgive me if I’m wrong, who knows maybe some of these girls are masters or degree holders, and i apologise if you’re friends with anyone there, but these videos are pretty bad.

The producer of these videos should be on the firing line as well. They look so amateur, most of the girls clearly looked like they were unprepared are over-prepared.
